Thursday on WBCR: Pipelines and fracking oh my!

Protest projection in the West Village. A 30″ natural gas pipeline under Gansevoort Street? not a great idea. From the Sane Energy project website.

This Thursday night you will find me behind the microphone on WBCR‘s Sex and Politics. The show starts at 8 PM and you can pick it up on your internets machine by going into the mywbcr site. I’ll be interviewing a representative of Sane Energy Project, which opposes the development, transport and export of shale gas. they have been active for the past year in attempting to stop the Spectra natural gas pipelines being constructed under Gansevoort Street in Manhattan and through Jacob Riis Park in the Rockaways (along much of the same area blown away by Hurricane Sandy last fall). They support investment in renewable energy and the goal of zero fossil fuel dependence by 2030, outlined by a Stanford University study. There have been numerous protests by members of Occupy the Pipeline, an offshoot of Occupy Wall Street, and multiple arrests for civil disobedience. Lots to talk about! I should go on at 9:30 or thereabouts. Join us!
