The clock is ticking, Hillary

goldman

Lloyd Blankfein of Goldman Sachs congratulates Hillary after one of her speeches to his company.

A couple weeks ago, I laid out the case for demanding that Hillary release the transcripts of her speeches to the banks. After all, she is running for the job of being the NOMINEE of the Democratic party in the 2016 election–that means she is seeking Democratic voters’ seal of approval for taking on the GOP nominee for the biggest electoral prize in the US. Her answer has been that she’ll release HER transcripts when other candidates release THEIRS. The money quote–she’ll release her transcripts “when everybody else does the same, because every other candidate in this race has given speeches to private groups, including Senator Sanders.

Bernie’s response was immediate. He hasn’t GIVEN any speeches to Wall Street. He has released transcripts of the private speeches he HAS given, and they’re pretty innocuous. And Hillary’s demand that ‘EVERYBODY ELSE’ provide information about whatever speeches THEY’VE given is a laugher. The GOP’s primary voters don’t care about their candidates giving speeches to banks, and there’s no information that Cruz, et. al, did any speaking engagements. The HRC  demand is a red herring.

Four years ago, I started a timer on when Willard Romney would release his full tax returns. This timer was an homage to Keith Olbermann, who ended his Countdown program with the statement ‘Today is the 250th day since George W Bush announced Mission Accomplished in Iraq‘. The Olbermann statement was a stark reminder of the Bush administration’s failure of the War in Iraq, a disaster that Olbermann and a few others had predicted. With Romney, I started the timer when it became clear that Willard Romney had no desire to let the American people see how he had gamed his income taxes. There’s some info on his taxes, but the race ended with Romney having lost–we can only speculate about the CRUT deals hidden in his returns. Sad to say, but it’s time to start a timer on Hillary’s failure to disclose what she was saying to the banks that was worth $5,000 a minute. Fortunately, someone else has taken on the task, and according to them, Hillary has been withholding the transcripts for fifteen days, one hour and thirty-eight minutes as I write this.
