How to Stop the Empire–a play about occupations
REMINDER: I’ve been invited to perform this play at the fifth anniversary of the occupation of Zuccotti Park by Occupy Wall Street. The date is September 17 (a Saturday). Unless we have another Hurricane Sandy hit, I’ll be out there. The play is being rewritten somewhat to reflect the clusterf**k that passes for Election 2016. I would also be remiss if I didn’t write in a shout out to the Black Lives Matter movement or Bernie Sanders.
If you want to see the play in its original configuration, you could do worse than looking at it on YouTube. There are two examples–this is a shortened version that was performed at the Occupy The Empty Space event in 2012, videotaped by RChin. I did another version at a protest to end Citizens United in 2014, videotaped by Owen Long. You could also invite me to your venue to perform. I’m okay with that as long as you let me pass the hat. Or YOU could pass the hat.And I demand pizza and decent beer.
PERFORMANCE AT 1 PM. It will be at Zuccotti unless it won’t, in which case I’ll be doing it on the steps of Federal Hall on Wall Street.
PS: This is all possible because of Occu-Evolve. They are looking for donations themselves. Here’s a link.
(PS regarding the pic below: this is not a meme I did–there’s a typo. English teacher that I am, it bugs me, but I think it makes the poster a bit more ‘grass roots’)

The way people remember me from my performance at Judson in March 2012. Pic courtesy of Robert Chin.
UPDATE: I believe T-Shirts are being created for this. Here’s the one I think they’re going ahead with. Bring cash and you can get one:
