Random musings for a Friday

First, we had a great discussion last night on Sex And Politics on WBCR about the Occupy Movement‘s ‘Strike the Debt’ initiative. For those of you who don’t know about this, it’s a campaign called Rolling Jubilee–the activist group is able to buy up debt for pennies on the dollar and once purchased, it liquidates the debt. Right now it’s being done for medical debt, something that is behind 62% of all bankruptcies in the United States (even for people with insurance–the insurance industry in healthcare deserves its own post, which I hope to address in the next month). According to their Website, the Rolling Jubilee has raised some $450K and liquidated over $8.8 Million in outstanding medical debt.

And now for something completely different.

I heard on my internets machine that this video by PSY was the most-watched video ever on YouTube, trending some 853,000,000 hits. Ummm… Okay. I didn’t get the Justin Bieber video being #1 either. And PSY leaves me kind of … meh, frankly. Does this mean I’m thisclose to being the guy yelling at kids to get off his lawn?

stay tuned.

  1. Don’t be silly… you don’t have a lawn.

    1. Well, I do have a porch… and there’s a 4 foot square chunk of grass right in front of my bedroom window. And people do yell at kids for playing in my lobby, though I’m not one of them (the people yelling, I mean).
